Wishing You a Happy New Year
I've been reading about Buddhism recently. I'm finding it very interesting. The heart of the message seems so like the heart of Christianity.
According to the Dalai Lama happiness results from being compassionate towards other people and, indeed, towards all sentient beings.
Compassion is also important for being a peacemaker, too. Thich Nhat Hanh has written a lot about being a peacemaker and the importance of starting by becoming at peace in yourself.
All this is also beneficial for our health as negative emotions are unhealthy.
So here's wishing you a happy and compassionate new year in which you learn to deal with your anger and learn to turn it into patience and tolerance, and in which I learn to do the same. I'm planning to attend a group to help me practice meditation and mindfulness in the hope that these practices will encourageme to develop these positive attitudes.
